Deputies, correction officers graduate from academy

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Erie County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Training Academy held their graduation Friday for 26 new deputies and correction officers.

The ceremony took place at Erie Community College’s city campus auditorium. The graduates will be assigned to the jail management division and will continue their training for three weeks before their official assignment.

Superintendent Thomas Diina said in a prepared statement, “Since 2012, we have been running three academies per year in an effort to increase our staffing levels. The results have been a reduced overtime burden on our deputies, and a better atmosphere within the facilities.”
