Man on parole for felony DWI accused of driving ATV while drunk

BLISS, N.Y. (WIVB) – A man currently on parole for felony DWI was arrested Thursday after being stopped for operating an ATV without a helmet.

A Wyoming County Sheriff’s deputy stopped John Townley, 38, of Bliss for riding without a helmet on School Street. Deputies say he failed field sobriety test and a later test revealed his BAC to be .08 percent.

Townley was convicted of felony DWI in Genesee County in 2011, and is currently on parole for that conviction.

He is charged with felony DWI, unregistered ATV, uninsured ATV, no helmet and operating an ATV on a public highway.

Townley was taken to the Wyoming County Jail without bail and his ATV was impounded.
