CASTILE, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Wyoming County man is facing charges after allegedly stealing $7 worth of electricity.

On June 4, the Village of Castile shut off the electricity to Mark Develder’s home for non-payment. Deputies say the 44-year-old reconnected the meter and used approximately $7 worth of electricity between June 4 and June 12.

The sheriff’s office says in the process of reconnecting his meter, Develder damaged the meter and the meter box.

He is charged with two counts of criminal mischief and theft of services, all misdemeanors.

Develder is due back in court next month. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
