Color Me Rad held at Darien Lake

DARIEN LAKE, N.Y. (WIVB) – Runners in Darien Lake raised $15,000 for the Special Olympics of New York in this year’s Color Me Rad race, held Saturday morning.

More than 6,500 runners participated. The Color Me Rad run/walk is known for participants finishing with their clothes tie-dyed from a paint-like substance sprayed on them during the race. This year, runners received their own hand-held “color blasters” to help paint other participants.

Last year’s Color Me Rad event at Darien Lake had 6,800 participants and also raised $15,000. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
