Body found in Lower Niagara River

LEWISTON, N.Y. (WIVB) – Niagara County Sheriff’s are investigating how a body ended up in the lower Niagara River.

They received a call just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday when a boater reported the body floating in the river. The U.S. Coast Guard assisted the Sheriff’s Office in removing the body from the water. There was no identification on the body.

It was taken to ECMC for an autopsy. The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau is working to identify the body. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
