Light the Night Walk kicks off at Chef’s Restaurant

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The kickoff of the Light the Night Walk took place Wednesday with a luncheon at Chef’s Restaurant.

Leaders and volunteers for the 16th running of the event attended the kickoff event and were joined by News 4’s Jordan Williams. News 4 is proudly partnering with the Lymphoma Society to sponsor the walk, which takes place September 26 in Delaware Park.

This year’s chair, Rick Hoagland, is Vice President of Geico and was diagnosed with leukemia six years ago. He said, “When you start talking about cancer, people have friends, family, co-workers that have been affected, it becomes a very personal cause for our employees.”

All proceeds go toward the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Buffalo. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
