Record number of amputee golfers to join tournament

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – The sixth annual Buffalo Amputee Golf Classic is a sell-out. Brierwood Country Club in Hamburg will host 140 players on Monday, June 30, including a record number of amputee golfers.

The tournament has been organized from the beginning by local PGA professional Peter Fenn. Fenn is a Vietnam War veteran and a member of the Eastern Amputee Golf Association. One of Fenn’s legs was amputated below the knee in 2007 because of a war-related injury. He has had several operations since.

Golfers will tee off at 1 p.m. Monday. The tournament, sponsored by Main Mobility, includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, auctions, and an awards dinner.

The Buffalo Amputee Golf Classic benefits the Little Pebble Foundation which is working to send amputee children to summer camp. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
