Woman accused of stealing more than $2K in benefits

ALBION, N.Y. (WIVB) – An Orleans County woman is charged with obtaining more than $2,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.

On Tuesday, State Police arrested Brandy Cummings of Albion and charged her with fourth degree welfare fraud. Troopers say between January and April, the 39-year-old failed to report that she was working while receiving cash and SNAP benefits.

In all, authorities say Cummings obtained around $2,300 she was not entitled to.

She was arrested and released. She’s due back in court next month.
