PHILADELPHIA, PA (WIVB) – The Sabres picked up a big piece to the rebuilding effort Friday night, drafting center Sam Reinhart with the second overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.
Reinhart played in juniors with the Kootenay Ice last season, scoring 36 goals with 69 assists in 60 games. The 18-year-old stands 6’1″ and 185 pounds.
Reinhart is regarded as one of the top playmakers in the draft. Kris Baker from SabresProspects.com said, “There is little flash to Reinhart’s game, but the lack of sizzle is made up with consistent smarts, vision and character that puts the productive pivot among the elite forwards in the 2014 draft class.”
Calgary Flames president called Reinhart “Einstein on the ice” earlier this month.
