Sabres GM talks to agents for Ott, Moulson

PHILADELPHIA (WIVB) – Buffalo Sabres GM Tim Murray has been on the phone with plenty of agents since the NHL free agent interview window opened earlier this week. A couple former Sabres are included on his list of players he’s talking about.

Steve Ott and Matt Moulson, who both left Buffalo in trades before this year’s NHL trade deadline, are among the players being discussed.

Ott was the team captain last season, and would fit the type of veteran leader Murray wants to add to the roster. Moulson came over in the Thomas Vanek trade, but showed some offensive skill while he was in town.

It should be noted, this doesn’t mean the Sabres will sign either player – but they are on the team’s radar, with free agency set to open next week. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
