PHILADELPHIA, P.A. (WIVB)–  In Day 2 of the NHL Draft the Sabres are grabbing more players who can potentially help Buffalo score.

The Sabres selected Vaclav Karabacek with the 49th overall pick. He is a Czech-born player who played in the QMJHL. The forward had 21 goals and 47 assists in 65 games in the QMJHL this past season.

Karabacek is known for his tenacity. He doesn’t necessarily have a ton of speed but plays with a lot of grit and has a high hockey IQ.

Current Sabres such as Patrick Kaleta have told News 4 Sports that there is going to be an emphasis on hard work in this organization. Karabecek’s style of play aligns with the hard-working mentality.

Buffalo also grabbed goalie Jonas Johansson with the 61st overall pick. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
