Officials hold citizen preparedness program

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — Several officials came together Saturday to help educate the public on how to respond to natural disasters.

Governor Andrew Cuomo was joined by Assemblyman John Ceretto, Senator George Maziarz, and Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster to host the event. After big flooding last year, officials wanted to ensure people were prepared for anything.

Everyone who attended was given a New York State Disaster Preparedness Kit with items to help them in the event of a disaster. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
