Sabres buy out Ehrhoff

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB)– The Buffalo Sabres have used their second compliance buyout on defenseman Christian Ehrhoff. Ehrhoff is only three years in to a ten year $40 million contract he signed in 2011.

The contract had an average cap hit of $4 million. The soon-to-be 32 year-old had six goals and 27 assists last season in 29 games. He led all Sabres defensemen in points with 33. In his career he has 69 goals and 244 assists in 692 regular-season games. He has also recorded seven goals and 27 assists in 73 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Earlier this summer, the Sabres bought out Ville Leino who signed a six-year $27 million contract in 2011. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
