Fire breaks out, impacts three homes

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo Fire Investigators are looking for what caused an overnight fire on the Buffalo’s east side. Three houses were involved in the intense blaze.

The fire broke out just before 2 a.m. at a house on Paderweski Drive, near Lombard Street, and quickly spread. Buffalo Firefighters say the damage to two of the buildings was so severe they will likely have to be demolished.

Buffalo Fire Chief James LaMacchia said, “The exposure building, the one on the corner – there was nobody there. The original fire building, the one there was extensive damage to, we haven’t been able to get into and check yet.”

The chief said the hot and muggy weather made fighting the blaze especially taxing on the firefighters because their gear keeps in so much heat.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
