Deputies: Drunk driver crashed into cemetery

DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) – Deputies say a drunk driver crashed into St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dunkirk Monday night.

The sheriff’s office responded to the Williams Street cemetery around 6:30 p.m. on reports of a property damage accident. Deputies found 54-year-old Shawn Horton of Stockton was driving drunk and failed to negotiate a turn off Rt. 60 before crashing.

Horton is charged with DWI, failure to keep right, moving from lane unsafely, and DWI per se.

Horton is due back in Town of Dunkirk Court at a later date. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
