BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – Monday morning, the Buffalo Sabres introduced their first-round pick Sam Reinhart to the media in Western New York.
Buffalo drafted Reinhart with the second overall pick. Reinhart appears happy to be in the Queen City and to play with the young talent already in the organization.
“I think there are a lot of players that excite me to be honest. Coming in to a young team, I feel I am pretty versatile in the sense I feel that I can fit in comfortably and produce with any type of player. I have been with every type of player throughout my career,” Reinhart explained. “I am looking forward to coming in to a new team with a lot of talent up front and I am excited for that opportunity.
Despite Sabres General Manager Tim Murray’s straight-faced demeanor, his remarks on Reinhart indicate that he is also excited about the Sabres most recent first-round draft pick.
“I have said this about hockey sense. When you start scouting, it is the hardest thing to judge. His (Reinhart) is easy because it is that good,” explained Murray.
The Sabres GM and the rest of the front office are already on to the next order of business, which is free agency. The free agency period begins at noon on Tuesday.
Murray told the media he would like at least two veterans to help lead a very young organization.
