Sabres take a moment to recognize Maj. Miller

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The spokesman for the Buffalo Sabres paused while introducing the team’s new top draft pick when he spotted a special guest in the audience during Monday’s news conference.

Mike Gilbert noticed Major Patrick Miller was among those who gathered to hear from Sam Reinhart.

“I want to bring Pat, is it Major Patrick Miller. You guys don’t know him. He was injured in a terrorist attack down in Fort Hood, almost died, and he’s a Buffalo native. Wanted to bring you up and introduce you to these guys,” Gilbert said.

Despite being shot in the stomach during the rampage at Fort Hood back in April, Major Miller went above and beyond. He pulled other to safety and called 911.

Major Miller arrived back in Western New York last week and served as Grand Marshall of the Old Home Week parade in his hometown of Allegany.
