Woman facing charges for driving too slowly

MAYVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – A woman allegedly driving 5 mph in a 35 mph zone was arrested Tuesday and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office observed the vehicle impeding traffic on Rt. 394 in Mayville around 11:30 p.m. and deputies say there were several cars behind it.

Officers pulled 60-year-old June Smith over and say they discovered she was driving while impaired by drugs. Deputies say they also spotted a police-style billy club bear the driver’s seat.

Smith was arrested on charges of DWAI by drugs, fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, and driving too slowly.

She is due back in court at a later date.
