Developer could soon receive $5M grant

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Developer Mark Croce could soon receive $5 million in grant money for Statler City.

When Croce saved the building from demolition in 2011, he said he needed the grant money to help with exterior repairs. Two months ago, Mayor Byron Brown told News 4 Investigates there was a delay with the paperwork.

Brendan Mehaffy, Buffalo’s Executive Director of Strategic Planning, said, “We recently received finalized papers from Mark Croce. The contract with all exhibits will be ready no later than next week. The Council already authorized the project. The next step is submitting the complete contract to the state so that work can begin.”

Croce has already renovated the bottom three floors for banquets and receptions.

Statler City is also home to the Rendezvous Night Club as well as the lobby bar.
