Busy holiday weekend in WNY

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – It’s a holiday weekend and there is a lot going on in Western New York. From sports to great food, even some priceless works of art.

Are your children caught up in World Cup soccer? This Saturday morning, they’ll have the opportunity to work on their own skills, by participating in a free clinic with Soccer Shots Buffalo at Canalside.

The program focuses on teaching children ages 3 to 8 the fundamentals of the game in a non-competitive environment. The activity, kicks off at 10 a.m. and you can learn more at www.soccershotsbuffalo.com.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head to the Village of Williamsville for their weekly farmer’s market on Spring Street, which runs Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

While you’re there, stop into the Sweet Jenny’s location inside the Red Mill for one of their popular “Scoop Days” for charity. All profits from the “Doggone Delight” ice cream will be donated to the SPCA’s Raise the Roof Campaign.

Also happening on Saturday, the Albright Knox Art Gallery will welcome back some of its most famous works from a successful tour to the Denver Art Museum. The public is invited to view the “Sincerely Yours: Treasures of the Queen City,” from 4 to 7 p.m.

Festivities at this free, family-friendly event include guided tours, live music, food trucks, and hands-on activities.
