Canalside hosts Fourth of July celebrations

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – People celebrating America’s birthday at Canalside are feeling the “Buffalove” Friday afternoon and ready for a huge party that will go late into the evening.

Kids festivities started around 11 a.m. The patriotic cuties put together fun arts and crafts.

Liberty Hound is open from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m., for their busiest day of the year. Owner Mike Shatzel says it’s his smallest restaurant but does more business than places he has that are four or five times the size.

They’re also hosting a party on the USS Little Rock.

At 2 p.m. music starts. Lance Diamond will celebrate his birthday, taking the stage at 7 p.m., and fireworks should go off around 10:15 p.m.

Restauranteur Russell Salvatore is sponsoring the fireworks show. He promises a huge display. They will be synched on WHTT Classic Hits 104.1.

Barry Horowitz, or Captain Barry as he calls himself, knows how to celebrate Americas 238th birthday in style. He was decked out in a red, white and blue outfit and a captain’s hat.

Barry said, “I’m a big Buffalo booster. My boat has been at Erie Basin for 17 years.”
