BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Canalside’s Independence Day party was bigger this year than ever before.
The all-day extravaganza of music, food, and family fun, drew Western New Yorkers by the thousands.
Annamarie Villips said, “It’s been beautiful. There’s a lot of activities for the kids, free activities with Explore and More [Children's Museum]; lots of people around and… Nice weather, boats, sightseeing. It’s pretty.”
Devon Greunthaner added, “I love that the fireworks are going to be here, and I love that everyone came here for the special day.”
And Joelle Greunthaner commented, “God bless the people that have died in the Army for us.”
Junior ROTC members took part in a flag-folding ceremony, to mark America’s birthday.
But perhaps the most anticipated portion of the night was the half-hour long fireworks show to cap it off. A show so big, crews spent all morning setting up for it.
Bob Leo of Skyliners of New York said, “We got a lot of shows going on; this one is one of the biggest in the area. The whole finale is going to be all gold. Gold glitter, for the most part, with some red, white and blues over the top of that.”
