Anti-drone activists promote solar energy

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – In Niagara Falls, the drone debate is heating up. Anti-drone activists gathered outside the Air Reserve Station over the weekend. They want to transform the station into a solar energy facility.

The Green Party candidate for Governor of New York claims the idea would bring jobs and money to Western New York.

Candidate Howie Hawkins said, “You know the sun shines and the wind blows, and that energy just needs to be harvested. It’s cost is near 0 marginal cost, so that’s the way to go.”

Activists say they will gather in front of the Air Reserve station the second and fourth Tuesday of every month to promote awareness for their idea. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
