Buffalo man drowns in fishing accident

HIAWATHA, ONT. (WIVB)  Ontario Provincial Police have identified a drowning victim near Peterborough as Thomas Gangloff of Buffalo.

The Peterborough News reports that the victim fell off a rented fishing boat in Rice Lake in Hiawatha First Nations, Ontario.

Two people swam out to him trying to save him as he floundered in the water but were unable to reach him in time.

Gangloff, who was 60 years old, was about 200 feet from shore in about 10 feet of water where the incident occurred.
