Buffalo named as one of New York’s 10 most exciting places

Buffalo Queen City

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The City of Buffalo has been named one of New York State’s 10 most exciting places, according to a new analysis by the Movoto Real Estate blog. Buffalo tied with Syracuse for the 8th spot, ahead of Elmira, which came in at number 10.

Topping the list was Ithaca, followed by New York City, Port Chester, Albany, Troy, Poughkeepsie and Rochester. Movoto says it included all the places in New York with populations of more than 25,000. It then compiled the list based on eight criteria; nightlife per capita, live music venues, active life options, arts and entertainment, fast food restaurants (the fewer the better), restaurants that don’t feature fast food (the higher the number the better), the number of residents aged 18 to 34 and population density.

According the analysis, Buffalo was helped in the rankings by its younger population. More than 28 percent of Buffalo residents are between 18 and 34. Buffalo also had a high number of nightlife and active life options.
