‘Fantasy Island’ sex assault case due in court

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – Barry Hollis will appear before a judge on Tuesday to face charges he sexually assaulted a young girl on a ride at Martin’s Fantasy Island.

The alleged assault took place on June 22 but Hollis wasn’t arrested by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office until July 3. The following day, News 4 had an exclusive interview with the father of the alleged victim. You can see that interview here.

Hollis will be in Grand Island Court Tuesday at 2 p.m. for a felony hearing, and the victim’s parents told News 4 they will be there.

In a statement to Grand Island Police, the mother of the 8-year-old girl said she wants to pursue criminal charges against the person responsible for this horrible act against her daughter. Court documents report, in graphic detail, the alleged sexual assault at Martin’s Fantasy Island.

The report was filed by the girl’s parents. Her mother wrote a ‘supporting deposition’ explaining the attack happened while the ‘Crazy Mouse’ roller coaster was in motion. She wrote the alleged attacker was unknown to her daughter.

We spoke with Hollis’ mother. She says her son has problems, but has not done anything like this is the past and is not capable of anything like this.

Hollis is facing charges of first degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
