NT woman’s name released in tragic kayaking incident


NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A woman from North Tonawanda died while kayaking with her family near Philadelphia.

According to the Associated Press, officials said fast-moving water prevented Jody Walker and her family from stopping at Prahls Island in the Virginia Forest Recreation Area. The 50-year-old’s kayak overturned and she became stuck.

Relatives pulled her from the river and started CPR but couldn’t save her.

Officials said the Walker was pronounced dead at Doylestown Hospital.
