BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Erie County Sheriff’s Office says two deputies were injured Thursday while attempting to subdue an inmate who had tried to attack a staff nurse.

Authorities say Tun Win was being evaluated by the nurse in the Erie County Holding Center when he attempted to assault her. Two deputies responded to the nurse’s screams and tried to get Win into handcuffs. A fight ensued but deputies were able to subdue Win and place him in restraints.

Both deputies were taken to ECMC to be evaluated and treated.

Win, who is currently being held in the Holding Center on domestic violence and child endangerment charges, will face additional charges when he is arraigned on Friday in Buffalo City Court. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
