WNY family sues GM over deadly accident

MURRAY, N.Y. (WIVB) – A fatal accident in Western New York could be linked to a massive recall at General Notors.

Last December, a Chevy Cobalt struck a school bus in the Town of Murray in Orleans County. The driver of the car, 23-year-old Daniel Hollaert, Jr., died at the scene.

The victim’s family has reportedly filed a lawsuit against GM, blaming the crash on a faulty ignition switch. The suit claims the defective switch shut the car off as well as its power steering and brake system.

Defective ignition switches led GM to recall millions of cars this year.
