BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Taste of Buffalo is now touted as the country’s largest two-day annual food festival. And this, the 31st Taste, is highlighted by 17 first-time vendors.
“It’s phenomenal. We are literally 47 steps from our restaurant on Chippewa Street. We are very excited to be here. Part of the excitement downtown in general,” said one restaurant worker.
“It’s amazing. There are so many people who come through the Taste of Buffalo. It’s a chance to show that we’re here. Everyone can taste a little sample of what we have going on,” Hillary Collura of Sidelines Sports Bar and Grill said.
And what they have going on was unlike anything long-time food judge Jacquie Walker has tried at the Taste.
“Can you believe it? It’s Wild Boar Ragout for my breakfast today!” News 4’s Jacquie Walker said.
“Our Wild Boar Ragout is a little bit gamey, goes with the Lodge theme. Same thing with our venison skewer we call Stag on a Stick,” said Peter Altholz of The Lodge.
That Wild Boar Ragout picked up this year’s New York Award.
“Crabcake sliders from Boss, and I’m going to slide it right down,” said News 4’s Rich Newberg.
And he wasn’t the only one sliding them right down.
“I just really want food. I am really hungry. And I just got back from France, so I haven’t had food from Buffalo for like 6 months,” said Stefanie Watt of Tonawanda.
She had plenty to choose from.
“I had a stuffed banana pepper and we had some fried chicken wings, so I’m just glad to be back and tasting the food of Buffalo,” Watt said.
The taste continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with plenty of new food and attractions and plenty of what you come to expect every year.
