TOWN OF GAINES, N.Y. (WIVB)- A woman is in serious condition at ECMC after crashing her vehicle early Sunday morning in the Town of Gaines.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office reports that 45 year-old Felicia Gaddas, of Waterport, was traveling in the 2200 block of Route 279 when she apparently lost control of her vehicle.

The Sherriff’s Office says that the vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the east side of the roadway before striking a utility pole.

Gaddis was ejected from the car as it over-turned, coming to a rest on it’s side. She was flown to ECMC by Mercy Flight.

The collision resulted in downed power lines when the utility pole was snapped in half, which brought a response from National Grid.

The incident remains under investigation but the Sheriff’s Office tells News 4 that it appears both alcohol and excessive speed were contributing factors.

Charges against Gaddis are pending her recovery and blood test results.
