Familiar DWI attorney passes away

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Sam Maislin, a DWI attorney whose television commercials made him a familiar face across Western New York, has died.

Maislin passed away at his Amherst home on Saturday. He was 68.

A graduate of Bennett High School and the University at Buffalo, Maislin worked as an assistant district attorney for Erie County in the early 1970s before going into private practice. He launched his own firm in 1996.

Maislin also served as Amherst Town Justice in the 1990s and taught criminal justice at Buffalo State College.

He is survived by his wife and four children.

A memorial service will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Amherst Memorial Chapel on Dodge Road in Amherst.
