Operation Independence set to launch

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Veterans returning from war are getting a vote of support from the Erie County Legislature.

Operation Independence’s Social Day program is set to launch Monday. County lawmakers unanimously approved a resolution supporting the program earlier this summer.

Operation Independence helps veterans suffering from traumatic brain injuries. The Social Day program seeks to create social opportunities for veterans in a comfortable environment where they can engage with their peers. This is intended to improve the functional recovery and quality of life for veterans, and reduce stress on their families.

The Venture Forthe Foundation and the Veterans Housing Coalition created the program.
