NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Erie County Sheriff’s Underwater Recovery Team was able to find a gun lost by a hunter when he fell overboard in the Niagara River last winter.

Deputies were out on the water last Friday for a scheduled training dive. The Underwater Recovery Team systematically searched for the shotgun using information provided by the hunter.

It was recovered from the riverbed near Strawberry Island and will be returned to the hunter.
