$130 million project transforms the Ralph

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – A $130 million renovation project is transforming one of the oldest stadiums in the league.

Chief Marketing Officer Marc Honan for the Buffalo Bills says fans can expect a better experience at Ralph Wilson Stadium with many changes, including more elbow room, a new front door, new food and even a new team store.

Though the stadium may be among the oldest, all the off-season renovations are recharging the Ralph for the future.

Honan explained that the perimeter of the stadium is expanding, the number of gates is shrinking from nine to six, but new gates are called ‘super gates.’ These six super gates will have more points of entry, getting fans inside the stadium faster.

The new sideline concourse steps to the 100 level that used to be nine-feet wide will now be 24-feet wide. In the concourse, fans will find the new concession stands. They’re going to look very different.

A new Bills store, four times bigger than the current team store, will open on Abbott Road.

The Buffalo Bills say upgrades include credit card machines at each stand. Also, your options for a halftime snack locations will increase from five stands to a total of 43 around the stadium. The new stands will be enlarged to provide more efficient service, including 55 “beer only” points to save you time in line, so you’re back in your seat for that next touchdown.

Local food favorites are joining the roster down at the stadium.

Honan explained, Duff’s Famous Wings is the first to jump on board and announce that they’ll bring some of the best wings in Buffalo to Bills game days. Duff’s Famous Wings will be available at four concession stands for easy access from your seat, located anywhere inside the comfortable confines of Ralph Wilson Stadium.

There is also a new lounge for fans to enjoy.

A new sports bar will be added off the east end zone concourse that will be a great place to hang, eat, drink, and catch the game on TV while doing so, said Honan.

Fans can expect to see big changes above both end zones.

According to Honan, the new scoreboard above the Time Warner Cable Business Class Club, standing 33 feet tall and 60 feet wide, will keep you in the fantasy loop with league leaders and fantasy stats updated all game long. Bridged by a new digital tri-vision board, its twin will sit atop the adjacent M&T Bank Club and will mirror the video on the bigger than ever west end scoreboard. The west end scoreboard is longer and clearer, now 163 feet wide, with updated technology and a wider screen.

Changes at the stadium will be complete by Saturday, August 23rd. That’s the date of the Bills first pre-season game, when they take on Tampa Bay.
