Lemieux happy to follow in father’s footsteps

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Claude Lemieux gave NHL teams fits during his career. Now his son, Sabres second-round draft pick Brendan Lemieux, is ready for his turn.

Brendan Lemieux embraces his father’s style as an agitator, a role that turned Claude into one of the most hated players in the league.

“A lot of people could say, why would I want to play like my dad? He was one of the most hated players ever, why would I want to put myself in that position?,” said Lemieux. “For me, it’s in my blood, that’s the game I feel I can be the most successful at, because I want to be the best player that I can possibly be. Most importantly, I just want to win, and I think he did that.”
