Mayor warns about false assault reports on social media

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown is warning about misinformation on social media regarding sexual assaults in the city.

There have been recent reports of another attack in the Elmwood area. But on Wednesday, the mayor said he has not been informed of any new attack and warned people against posting or re-posting wrong information on sites like Facebook and Twitter.

He is warning women to remain vigilant, following at least four attacks in the city, including a rape in Allentown.
