‘Buffalo Mass Mob’ plans next worship service

Buffalo, N.Y.(WIVB) Buffalo’s Mass Mob plans to worship at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in South Buffalo on Sunday, August 3, 2014, during the 11:00 A.M. Mass. The group aims to help struggling Buffalo churches fill their pews.

This will be the fifth time the ‘Mass Mob’ has selected a church and asked the public to attend a particular service. Previous gatherings have attracted hundreds of people to churches which would normally have a much smaller attendance.

The Rev. Jim Judge says “The wonderful community of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish is delighted to host the next Mass Mob.” He sees it as a way to bring both young and old families back to the church.

The Buffalo Mass Mob movement has been widely covered in the news media and has inspired similar groups in several other cities. Christopher Byrd is a co-founder of the movement.
