BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Many western New Yorkers contacted Call 4 Action with complaints about a home improvement contractor and Thursday, George Anna of Cheektowaga was sentenced to 90 days in prison for criminal contempt of court by State Supreme Court Justice John O’Donnell.

Anna was barred from the home improvement business in 2012 unless he posted $100,000 bond but prosecutors from the Attorney General’s office found Anna just kept doing the same thing.

New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman said, “Despite a court order that explicitly barred him from doing so, George Anna chose to blatantly take advantage of hardworking New Yorkers yet again. His prison sentence and fine send the message that ignoring a court order and preying upon innocent consumers will not be tolerated.”

The defendant was also ordered to pay $30,000 in restitution.
