BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A former member of the 10th Street Gang admits he drove fellow gang members to and from the scene of a murder in Buffalo.
Derrick Yancey, 27, pleaded guilty in federal court to Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organizations Conspiracy.
According to prosecutors, Yancey was a member of the 10th Street Gang from 2005 to 2010. He admitted to driving fellow gang members to shoot members of the rival 7th Street Gang in September 2008 as they were standing on Busti Avenue. With Yancey behind the wheel, his accomplices shot and killed Omar Fraticello-Lugo and injured two others. Yancey then drove the shooters from the scene.
Brandon Bobbitt was later convicted for his role in the murder of Fraticello-Lugo.
Yancey is the 39th 10th Street Gang member or associate convicted as a result of a federal investigation that began in 2009.
He faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced on October 22.
