Gunfire strikes and kills two people overnight

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two people were shot and killed on Buffalo’s east side Thursday night. Police are looking for the killer, and are urging witnesses to come forward.

Emotional family members were on the scene Friday morning. They told News 4’s Brittni Smallwood that they were trying to piece together what happened by talking to police and neighbors. They said one of the victims may have been pregnant.

The shooting happened at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Sycamore Street. When News 4 arrived at the scene, our photographer said he saw a body still in the car and bullet casings in the street.

Buffalo Police say the shooting was not random and the man who was killed was the target.

Authorities haven’t released the names of the victims, but Frances Ross says her brother, 36-year-old Shamel Parker is one of them. She says Parker’s girlfriend Ty is the other victim. Ross says Ty may be pregnant.

She and her family rushed to the crime scene after learning about their deaths.

Frances Ross said, “A guy came up to us and told us what he saw. He said that he heard the shooting. He ran outside. He saw a car spin off and he saw the car crash and the girl, all he saw was her leg come out the car. But it’s crazy. This is all crazy. This is all we got.”

Buffalo Police are still investigating this case.
