Police make arrest in supermarket purse snatching

LEWISTON, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State Police have made an arrest in a supermarket purse snatching in Niagara County.

Troopers have charged Joshua Pollock, 32, of Youngstown, with fourth-degree grand larceny and petit larceny.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, a woman had her purse stolen from a grocery cart while shopping at the Tops Markets on Center Street in Lewiston. Witnesses provided police with a description of the suspect’s car, and troopers on patrol were able to locate the vehicle with Pollock inside.

Troopers returned the stolen purse to its owner after police say Pollack showed them the dumpster where he disposed of it in Niagara Falls.

He is set to appear in Town of Lewiston Court on July 30.
