Report details feds investigation into senator

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) – There are new reports about the federal investigation into the office of long time State Senator George Maziarz. The Albany Times Union reports the feds are looking at payments to the family of his re-election committee treasurer.

The report also says investigators are probing tens of thousands of dollars in checks that were apparently not itemized and made out to cash, and were apparently never reported to the state Board of Elections.

The Maziarz office is being investigated over the use of campaign funds. The lawmaker announced last weekend that he is retiring at the end of the year.
