BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Water Bikes of Buffalo offers 10 bikes and a two-passenger unit that can be rented by the hour. Groups, families and single riders are all welcome to go for a ride in the Buffalo River and Union Ship Canal.
The personal watercrafts operate just like a bicycle, said co-owner Lisa Florczak of Water Bikes of Buffalo. But instead of wheels, you have pontoons. Pedals power a propeller, and you use a rudder to steer.
“If you can ride a bike, you can ride a water bike. It’s that simple,” said Florczak. “They’re virtually untippable so you don’t have to worry about falling off.”
Single-rider bikes can be rented for 15 dollars an hour. Two-person bikes are available for 30 dollars. Pedal cars for children are also an option for the first time this year.
Water Bikes of Buffalo is open every day throughout the summer, weather permitting. For more information, call (716) 681-4643 or visit their website at waterbikesofbuffalo.com.
