Woman ejected into creek during motorcycle accident; 3 others injured

TOWN OF CONCORD, N.Y. (WIVB)  Four people have been hospitalized after a crash involving a truck and two motorcycles.

Just after 2pm, Monday, a northbound Ford Ranger, driven by 17 year-old Brandon Lumberg of Springville, failed to negotiate a curve on Mill St, according to police.

The truck then crossed over the center-line into the southbound lane on the bridge over Cattauragus Creek and struck a Harley Davidson motorcycle head-on.

The driver of the motorcycle, Matthew Yocum, 53 years old of Lancaster, was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of a leg injury. The passenger on the motorcycle, 46 year old Barbara Yocum of Lancaster, was ejected from the motorcycle and fell approximately 30 feet into the Cattaraugus Creek. Another motorcycle, driven by 48 year old Kenneth Kuberski of Niagara Falls, was traveling along side the Yocum motorcycle and was able to avoid the collision by sliding to a stop on the pavement.

Barbara Yocum was rescued from the creek by the driver of the truck, Brandon Lumberg and Kenneth Kuberski.  She was transported to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Kuberski was transported to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville with minor injuries.

Lumberg was charged with speed not reasonable and failure to keep right. The crash was investigated by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit.
