LeROY, N.Y. (WIVB) – Authorities in Genesee County are searching for cattle rustlers who have also stolen some equipment from farms.
The sheriff’s office says over the past week, several larcenies have occurred in the Town of LeRoy and Monroe County. One local farm reported two separate thefts of 14 black and white bull calves, a Dewalt generator, a Dewalt saw and a Napa battery charger. Two of the calves were recovered.
A second farm, which deputies say is near the first, reported milk replacer and hay had been stolen.
Authorities say it’s possible the suspects are attempting to raise the calves.
A witness to one of the thefts describes the suspects as a man who is white, larger and has either a bald head or very short hair. The second suspect is described as a white female.
The witness says the suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored, possibly burgundy, minivan with dark tinted windows.
Anyone with information on the cattle rustlers are asked to call 585-345-5000, ext. 3572.
