BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A man now admits to committing a series of nighttime residential burglaries in North Buffalo.

Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita says 24-year-old Javel Lugo of BUffalo pleaded guilty to burglary and attempted burglary charges on Tuesday, for incidents that mostly happened on May 14.

Lugo burglarized two homes, one on Wilbury Place and one on Stratford Road, by entering through unlocked doors and windows. Lugo took laptop computers and cell phones. He also tried to break into two other homes, but was scared off by homeowners.

Lugo was arrested at a store located at 2058 Delaware Avenue, where a Buffalo Police officer saw him counting his money and stolen property on the front counter, in full view of the cashier and other customers.

The DA says Lugo is linked to unsolved North Buffalo burglaries in 2011 and 2013.

He will be sentenced in September, when he could face a maximum prison sentence of 74 years behind bars.
