MEDINA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Medina man was arrested last week for allegedly stealing more than $10,000 in benefits he was not entitled to receive.

State Police arrested Thomas Whiting on July 14 and charged him with third degree welfare fraud and two counts of first degree offering a false instrument for filing.

Troopers say between October 2012 and April 2014, the 51-year-old Medina man did not report that he was employed and continued to receive benefits from the Orleans County Department of Social Services.
