PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WIVB) - Sammy Watkins shined bright during the second day of Bills training camp, hauling in passes all over the field.
The Bills’ first round pick burned starting corner Leodis McKelvin deep during one-on-one drills, then followed it up with a deep touchdown catch from EJ Manuel during 11-on-11 work.
Watkins gave fans a scare when he stayed on the ground, after catching a tipped pass. A defender poked him in the eye, but he returned to the field shortly after.
“He’s made plays in this camp,” said Bills head coach Doug Marrone. “You guys have seen it. We just need to make sure that we continue developing him. He’s going against good players. He’s working with the first team, so he’s going against our corners and all of our guys. He’s a good football player and I think it’s one that, you sit there and the guy is making plays. I think a lot of people are excited.”
The Bills return to practice Tuesday morning at 8:10 on the campus of St. John Fisher.
