14 members of suspected gang arrested, 3 still sought

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Fourteen members and associates of a suspected narcotics trafficking gang operating on Buffalo’s east side have been taken into custody by federal authorities.

Members of the “Schuele Boys Gang,” a group which operated in the Schuele Street area, have been arrested and charged. Three remain at-large. Their pictures are below:

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the alleged gang members were the targets of the mass shooting at the City Grill in downtown Buffalo in the summer of 2010. Eight people were shot and four of them were killed.

Marcel Worthy, 30, of Buffalo, is believed to be the alleged gang leader. At the time of the City Grill shooting, law enforcement believed he was a kilogram quantity cocaine trafficker. The FBI suspects Worthy has killed at least one person.

The complaint says the defendants were buying and selling illegal narcotics, and were involved in committing acts of violence including shootings. The FBI says the alleged gang is the most violent group in Western New York.

Authorities say they bought drugs while undercover and wire tapped gang members’ phones. They say the men switched their cell phones frequently to stay under the radar.

FBI agents say Worthy and two other gang members opened Gone Auto Sales on Bailey Avenue to launder their illegal drugs.

The bust started with eight federal search warrants and ended with authorities seizing five guns, cocaine, and marijuana.

All 17 are charged by criminal complaint with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and 280 grams or more of crack cocaine. They are also charged with unlawful use of a communication facility in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The FBI is still looking for Jerome Grant, 33, Andre Wise, 36, and Michael Robertson, 24, all of Buffalo.

The charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of life, and a fine of $10,000,000 if convicted.

Since 2010, law enforcement has arrested around 200 people from a dozen different gangs in Buffalo.
